a few days ago, on april 9, Hedda Sterne passed away at 100 years old. Hedda was involved with the surrealist & abstract expressionist movement in NYC in the 1940s. she was also part of The Irascibles...a group of 18 avante-garde artists, including Jackson Pollack and Mark Rothco, who protested MoMA's policy toward American painters.
